Welcome to IWSEC2009

Following the success of past workshops in this series, ISEC and CSEC are delighted to host the Fourth International Workshop on Security, IWSEC2009, on October 28-30, 2009, in Toyama, Japan.

The complex structure of networks, middleware, agents, P2P applications and ubiquitous computing for commercial, personal, communal and public use, brought forth the advent of information society in the cyberspace. However the system poses new and diverse threats to the world. It is imperative for the security researchers to look into the issues from an interdisciplinary perspective.

The aim of IWSEC2009 is to contribute to security research and development addressing the topics from traditional theory and tools on security to up-to-date issues.

  • Network and Distributed Systems Security
  • Security Issues in Ubiquitous/Pervasive Computing
  • Authorization and Access Control
  • Software and System Security
  • Usable Security
  • Privacy Enhancing Technology
  • Digital Identity Management
  • Digital Forensics
  • Biometrics
  • Cryptography
  • Information Hiding
  • Quantum Security
  • Secure and Efficient Implementation
  • Other Scientific Approaches for Security

We have 46 paper submissions. Among them 13 regular papers and 6 short papers were accepted through a rigorous review process.

And, we have 2 invited talk: "The Psychology of Security" by Bruce Schneier and "The Future of Cryptographic Algorithms" by Bart Preneel, and 1 panel discussion: "Cryptographic hash functions: SHA-3 and beyond" by William Burr, Bart Preneel, Christian Rechberger, Bruce Schneier, Dai Watanabe.
