About PWS Cup 2019
In this contest, each team anonymizes location traces (i.e., time-series location trails) to balance high utility and privacy of the anonymized traces.
There are two phases in the contest.
In the data anonymizing phase, each team anonymizes traces to make the traces resistant to ID disclosure attacks (i.e., re-identification of the original user) and trace inference attacks (i.e., restoring the original location data) while preserving the characteristics of the original traces as much as possible.
In the ID disclosure & trace inference phase, each team assesses anonymized traces submitted by other participants. Specifically, each team assesses the privacy level of the anonymized traces by attempting to re-identify the original users and to restore the original location data in the traces.

- We are planning to hold both preliminary and final rounds online as described in the above schedule. The overall winner will be decided by combining the results from both matches.
- Each participating team will make a presentation and poster that describe the techniques used in the contest on October 22. The presentation session is going to be held in the CSS2019 venue (Huis Ten Bosch).
